hunsonxabadeer asked: Who the fuck cares is Banksy makes money off of his art. It's HIS ART and he's getting money for doing doing something he loves, which is what most people dream of. He's not compromising his beliefs or anything for the money. So in what way do people believe he's a sellout?
I have never ever seen a valid argument to label him as a sellout. If you look at the street art scene very closely like we do, you can never label him like that. Other street artists are far more commercially minded than him.
yoshiko asked: Have you seen Exit Through The Gift Shop? You can't honestly believe that Banksy is in no way a "sell out" after watching that. Don't get me wrong... I love his work, but please. Also, they sell his art as wall decals on Amazon... I work in licensing and I find it extremely hard to believe that Amazon would sell copyrighted artwork like that. Unless to you decals are not part of "selling out". And I don't think anything is wrong with commissioned walls! I think they are great! Go Shepard Fairey!
Of course I have seen the humorous documentary one thousand times before. First of all, his work is not copyrighted. Second, he doesn’t do commissioned walls. And I find it hard to believe that he sells stuff on Amazon, he has other ways to get funded (he did some exhibitions, produced Exit Through the Gift Shop and did and intro for The Simpsons).
thecamphorchest asked: In response to your comment about Banksy NOT being a sell-out and not selling t-shirts etc...I was just wondering who exactly does get the money for the cards and t-shirts? Or, because his art is entirely public, does a reproduced image of such fall under that sort of category? And I'm not being facetious....I'd genuinely like to know.
The people taking his art and putting it on the cards and shirts earn that money. Ofcourse Banksy himself makes money, but it’s not by selling merchandise.
joebagofdoughnuts asked: Apparently some peasants equate becoming part of pop culture to be selling out, don't let the mofo's of the world get you down. Even an artist has got to eat from time to time.
True, it’s like he deliberately chose to be part of the pop culture. He just did what he has always done and what millions are doing on the streets every day and night, making great street art.
mo3fo asked: why are you such a sell out
So you are claming that Banksy is a sell out, why? He doesn’t do commissioned walls, his art is free for everybody on the streets. And he doesn’t sell mugs, nor shirts or whatever.
Feedback from Tumblr Support regarding the missing REBLOG button
The typical source of that problem is browser-add ons that users have installed on their browser. It can sometimes override the iFrame that contains that button. Considering that we just made a few changes that button, it’s especially possible.
A good way to test that is to go to a post’s permalink page and check if you can see the iFrame/reblog button. For example, I can see yours fine here: http://banksystreetart.tumblr.com/post/32880061860/i-have-contacted-the-fine-folk-at-tumblr-support-to.
If you can’t see it on your end, then it’s more likely to be a coding problem. You’re right, you’d probably see a lot fewer notes if this were the case.
If you can’t see the reblog button in the iFrame (that’s the little frame with the buttons on the top right of your screen) than it’s assumable that the problem is related to your browser or any browser addons.
I have contacted the fine folk at Tumblr Support to look into the issue of not being able to reblog my posts, stay tuned.
UPDATE: Took them only 21 (!!!) minutes to reply, I wish other companies were as zooming fast as the Tumblr team. Rock on Tumblr!
heyheatherg asked: Its because you can't reblog answers to questions. So thats why the reblog thing doesnt show. Not a glitch at all - everything else works fine
Ok that’s clear right?
twobirdsoneshutter asked: No problems reblogging here. Some photos you have to do a little work to reblog, like actually click the notes link instead of the photo, but there are a lot of peoples blogs that do that.
More insights, okay now I have a couple of hundreds emailing me that there are NO problems and a couple of hundreds emailing me that there IS a problem. I’m confused!
so weird…why can’t I reblog the Banksy blog?
the little circly-arrow-thinger is completely missing from their posts…….?
That’s indeed very odd, should I email the fine folk at Tumblr? Or do you believe it’s theme related and should I look for a more up-to-date one? This one is installed over 3 years now.
find-peace-within asked: I also can't reblog, and I also can't seem tp click through your name to your posts? Your blog is the only one that seems to be having problems..
Ok, the problem is I can’t simulate the problem. Can you or anyone make screenshots? Alsof, I’m not good at making my own themes, any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
meoouuwz asked: you are BRILLIANT, on a side note what the fuck why can't I reblogg your art mate!
That’s really odd, I receive reblogs very often so there might be something wrong with your account I believe?
My Banksy tattoo. In honor of my father when I lost him <3
